Hiring of a relative of a current
faculty or staff member will be permitted only if the individual meets all the
qualifications and requirements of the position to be filled, will not be in a
supervisor/subordinate role with the relative and will not be working in a
position where the workflow would create a conflict of interest. In this instance, relative is defined as
parent, spouse, child, sibling, grandparent, grandchild, aunt, uncle, cousin,
in‐law or step relative, or any person with whom the employee has a close
personal relationship such as domestic partner, romantic partner, or
co‐habitant.
If an indirect reporting
relationship will exist, reporting must be authorized in advance by the
Assistant Vice President/Director of Human Resources and the appropriate Dean,
Provost or Vice President.
Pacific reserves the right to
take necessary and appropriate action to resolve any potential conflicts of
interest arising from any close personal relationships, as described in this
section, among its current and/or prospective faculty or staff members. Depending on the facts of the situation, such
action may include reassignment or termination of one or both individuals
involved.
